Thanksgiving Is Coming
Gratitude journals. Thankful lists. Appreciation posts. These are just a few ways we make the time to give thanks for all that we have, for our loved ones, and for waking in our right minds. Because we don’t want to wake up in the wrong frame of mind, okay. It’s also a time we salivate over the upcoming Thanksgiving day spread, dreaming of a paper plate laden with stuffing, sweet potato casserole, greens, ham, turkey and on and on. Oh, just me? Okay, then . . . I digress.
This is a prime opportunity for your Picky Pal to help with the meal planning, prep, and cooking. Let them help write the food list and haul in those groceries. Show them the tattered pages of their granny’s recipe book or the go-to ingredients for one of your traditional Thanksgiving dishes. Push up your sleeves together and make the food magic happen! Here are a few ways they can help out in the kitchen for Thanksgiving:
Cracking eggs
Rolling pie dough
Snapping peas
Decorating cakes & cookies
Setting the table
They will be so thankful to be included in the process of cooking for the whole family. Also, a sensory eater may not like certain dishes due to texture, smell, or taste, and that is okay. As we say our grace, make sure to show some grace and not a side eye if he or she doesn’t want your mac & cheese or refrains from eating a certain food. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, ya’ll!
