Embracing My Superpowers

Our Story

We believe that sensory kids with persnickety palates should taste what the world has to  offer in their own unique way.

We’re the proud parents of two spunky girls with sensory differences. Our kids are picky about what they eat. Their persnickety ways stem from sensory sensitivities to certain foods. This can lead to sensory overload due to distinct smells, textures, and tastes of foods. Sensory overload causes physical reactions like gagging, crying, anxiety, etc. This is why they won’t eat these foods. The old school notions of “You eat what I cook” or “You’ll eat when you get  hungry” won’t encourage kids with sensory differences to eat certain foods. Meal and snack time should not be a source of anxiety or physical pain for sensory kids. We want meal and snack time to be satisfying, fun, and fear-free. Sensory kids will eat heartily, happily, and healthily in their own unique way.

We understand that sensory kids possess a unique skillset when it comes to food  selectivity.

We realized that being picky was in fact their superpower. We channeled their food selectivity into a positive light by embracing their persnickety ways and welcoming them into the kitchen  to create yummy food art. Making child-friendly and visually appealing meals with sensory-friendly utensils became a fun way for them to explore a variety of foods to delight their  tastebuds.

We bring families together to bond over yummy food art, books, and awesome  adventures.

By merging cool foodie creations with books and adventures, Picky Pals provides sensory kids with a well-balanced approach to sensory integration.

The bravest thing you can be is yourself…
