Book Walk It Out . . . Ehhhh
Join us as we walk it out….with our picture book - Picky Pal Adventures: Rude Food narrated by none other than Picky Pal Alyssa. Alyssa takes the reader on a unique tour inside the minds of Picky Pals and their perspective on foods that they consider despicable due to taste, texture and/or smell. A book walk is a shared pre-reading experience used by teachers, librarians, and parents. The benefits of pre-reading a picture book includes the following:
Teaches the use of visual cues as a reading strategy
Allows the child to get a feel for where and when the story happens (setting)
Introduces the child to the characters (people who carry out the action in the story)
Sparks interest in the story & sets the purpose for the child to read and learn more about story
Enables the child to make predictions about the story and how it ends
Serves as an opportunity to introduce new vocabulary
